Did you know?  The Atlantic right whale got its name for a heartbreaking reason. Whalers once called it the “right” whale to hunt because it swam slowly, stayed close to shore, and floated when killed. Today, fewer than 400 remain.  Despite their struggles, Atlantic right whales are showing signs of hope; new calves are still being born each year along the southeastern U.S. coast.
